Loading and unloading of *“low temperature and low pressure“ liquefied CO2 in NEDO's CO2 Transportation Technology Development and Demonstration Experiment Project
TB Global Technologies Ltd. (TBG) has supplied marine loading arms for liquefied CO2 (LCO2) for the *CO2 Transportation Technology Development and Demonstration Project conducted by Japan CCS commissioned by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
JCCS commenced demonstration tests using TBG's loading arms from October 7 to 9 in Tomakomai. This loading operation was conducted successfully as one of the parts of world's first demonstration test of “low-temperature and low-pressure" LCO2 ship transport.
*"Low temperature and low pressure" LCO2 is LCO2 under the condition of lower temperature and lower pressure than those typically applied for conventional LCO2 (-20°C or lower, 2.0 MPa or lower).
**【Demonstration Test for CO2 Transportation/Technical Development and Demonstration Test for CO2 Ship Transportation 】 This project aims to establish transportation technology for liquefied CO2 by conducting research and development on transportation technology that enables long-distance, large-scale transportation of CO2 from supply points to utilization/storage points at an annual scale of 1 million tons, as well as low-cost transportation, and through demonstration tests and related surveys, to establish liquefied CO2 ship transportation technology.
TBG's advanced loading arm technology TBG's loading arms have a long track record in handling liquefied gases under low-temperature conditions such as LNG, and leveraging this advanced technology, the company is currently participating in development projects for renewable energy and decarbonization technology for ammonia, liquefied hydrogen and LCO2. TBG will continue to engage in technological development and social implementation to realize a decarbonized society and contribute to its realization.
